February WordPress Divi Meetup in Edmonton
On the last Friday of each month, I host a local Meetup to teach entrepreneurs how to build their own WordPress website using the Divi theme.
I’ve hosted meetups like this in the past, but this one was special. The students that attend this session had almost no experience building websites using WordPress, however, they each had a compelling reason to learn.
From confused to inspired
One student was making a major shift in her career and was looking to learn the basics of how to build a website for her wellness business.
Over the couple of hours we had together, I watched as these students went from being confused, to knowing just enough to be able to start playing with their new designs, to being inspired to experiment with all the features Divi offers.
The website building roadmap
One common theme I hear frequently from my clients is there’s too much information available and they just don’t know where to start. Building a website sounds so complicated that they often feel paralyzed.
When trying to get started, it can feel daunting to decide to use WordPress vs Wix vs Squarespace.
Even within WordPress, there are countless themes and plugins to choose from. No wonder most never get started.
Keeping this in mind I wanted to make sure that each of the students that attended the Meetup left with a roadmap and the skills necessary to take the next step in building their WordPress website.
Divi is the ultimate wellness website builder
After the session was finished, I asked the students how they felt. To my delight, they were all very excited that they now knew how to build their own website and were motivated to learn more.
What I love most about using WordPress (and Divi in particular) when building websites is that once you get past the initial learning curve, the possibilities are endless.
Instead of being locked into a certain design, Divi allows you to manipulate every thing on the screen with no coding experience at all.
When starting a new business, one of the biggest challenges is knowing where to start. With so many things to do, like building a webiste, posting on social media, writing blogs, it’s easy to get overwhelmed.
These students all expressed how much more confident they were in starting to build their own website.
If you’d like to learn how to build a WordPress website using Divi, I’d love to see you at out next Meetup.
